About this Item
First trade edition (Privately printed, 1930). Original cloth. Very Good. 'The Bramble Bush: On Our Law and Its Study (1930), [was] written especially for first-year law students. A new edition, edited and with an introduction by Steven Sheppard, was published in 2009 by Oxford University Press' (Wikipedia). 'Karl Llewellyn was one of the greatest legal minds of the twentieth century, and The Bramble Bush is one of his classics -- illuminating and even indispensable reading for each generation of law students and lawyers, and wonderful for general readers as well' (Cass R. Sunstein, former Karl N. Llewellyn Distinguished Service Professor, The University of Chicago Law School). Copy of Ben Kaplan (1911-2010), with his pencil signature and some pencil notes. Kaplan was 'the Royall Professor of Law Emeritus at Harvard Law School and a former justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court . . . A pre-eminent copyright scholar, Kaplan co-wrote the first casebook on copyright, with Yale Law Professor Ralph Brown '57 in 1960. His 1967 seminal text, 'An Unhurried View of Copyright', grew out of a series of lectures on copyright he delivered at Columbia as part of the James S. Carpentier Lectures series. Kaplan served on the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court from 1972-1981 and later on the Massachusetts Appeals Court' (Harvard Law School Web site). Seller Inventory # 21113
