About this Item
4to. Orange/red buckram. [36pp. mostly printed on rectos only]. One of 250 copies, signed and numbered. Designed and printed (in blue, red, and black) at Trigram Press. 'The emblems in this book are "borrowed" from the second part of "Les Vrais Pourtraits Des Hommes Illustres" of 1581. The book itself is a work of Huguenot piety, and celebrates the heroes and martyrs of the Wars of Religion.' About Very Good, the buckram with minor rubbing to extremities, a few spots, and with fading to the very tail edge (without much impact). Contents clean. Slight creasing to the dust jacket along the head edge, the tail edge with a band of fading. A couple of tiny nicks, but generally very crisp. This copy has an additional signature by Lucie-Smith ('Ted'), who has inscribed the book to Bernard (Stone), the book's publisher and 'la plus belle fleur de la poesie anglaise - at least in appearance'.
