His masterpiece on the Tarot. Exquisitely printed and limited to 200 copies, this is #132. Quarter binding with 32 plates, including several mounted and in color after Lady Frieda Harris. Original half crushed niger, printed decorative paper sides with an Egyptian hieroglyphic pattern, spine with 6 compartments and 5 raised bands, gilt decorations and lettering in 3 compartments, top edge gilt, others uncut, stamp signed by Sangorski & Sutcliffe To me this Work on the Tarot is an Encyclopedia of all serious occult philosophy. It is a standard Book of Reference, which will determine the entire course of mystical and magical thought for the next 2000 years… (Crowley to his engraver, 29 May 1942). Yorke 63. This book is strong and clean with very solid hinges. Corners are are bumped (softly curved) and rubbed through at the points, the soft Egyptian paper covering has some wear but is still crisp and bright for its age. The gold gilt on the top pages is still bright. The interior is as new , very crisp and probably has never been read, text is very tight and clean, free of any foxing or marks. A solid and attractive VG + copy of a magnificent and increasingly rare and forever valued author and book. Seller Inventory # 1
