[from the inner flaps] The finest new work of America's and Britain's finest poets appears in this unique anthology. Because all the poems Mr. Oscar Williams has chosen deal with realities, the book is essentially one of war poetry, not of propaganda, literary or otherwise. As "It is the work of poets the editor says, who have intensely felt the fact of war . They write not of the movement of troops, the horror of the enemy or the mechanism of the tank, but of the state of the human organism in the emotion of now living." The writers in this book are not limited to "young promising poets" or merely established poets, or any particular clique. It is a rounded selection of the work produced by all the important schools of modern verse concerned with present-day realities. [About the editor] Oscar Kaplan (December 29, 1900 ?
