These events are made credible by the masterful storytelling of Edgar Award winner Patterson. Short, tight chapters that shift rapidly among the fascinating cast of characters successfully raise doubts about who's good and who's not as the suspense mounts. Several action scenes are rather violent and a bit gory, but they pass quickly in this fast-paced page turner. There are also some genuinely touching moments. Prolific authors scarce third thriller. This book is in good condition. Book spine has slight lean; pages clean and tight. There are no internal marks of any kind. However, there is an address embossing on front free end page at the lower corner. Some whitish soil spots on both front and back boards. Last two blank pages have paperclip dents along top edge. The dust jacket is in good condition; some bumping along top and bottom edges has left a few creases; back flap has corner crease; no rips or tattering; not price clipped; now in a protective mylar cover. This copy is a First edition / First printing. Now the unusual signing part. It appears the book was signed on the colophon page and then a publisher's book plate with the author's signature was affixed over that signature. Holding page up to light shows the first hidden signature ( see photos ). This book also lacks a half title page - should have been colophone page ?
