First edition. Presentation copy. Octavo. 24×15cm; viii-(348)pp. Blue cloth with gilt title to spine and blind borders to upper and lower boards. General wear to edges, corners and spine. Binding square, tending to break along top of upper hinge but text block still tight. Top edge gilt. Mostly clean within; occasional marks. Monochrome plates, some of disfiguring diseases. Overall a 'Good+' copy. Copy signed "compliments of the author" for "Fleet Surgeon J. L. Thomas R.N." Possibly John Loyd Thomas, born 3 September 1856, who retired from the Royal Navy as Deputy Surgeon General. Senn was an American surgeon and founder of the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States. He served as a president of the American Medical Association and chief surgeon of the Sixth Army Corps. Seller Inventory # 013135
