A large, probably a charcoal black coloured, hardback, with gilt title impression on the spine. This wonderful book is in reasonable condition, its an old, (one hundred and fifty years old) well used book full of character and charm, normal wear, tear and marks apply consistent with use and age. There is no dust jacket. The hardback cover is splitting on the base of the spine, it has discoloured over the years, and has wear around the edges and spine, a couple tiny hole marks on front board. I would advise looking at the photo images to see what I have described, and if you require more images please do ask. The title page has been taped around its back top and spine area. There are a number of grubby marks throughout the book, but all pages are intact and in goodish readable order. Plus there are a number of pen and pencil marks from former users to mark specific workings. Following title page is the words on the next page that state as follows: "To the REVEREND W. H. HAVERGAL, M.A. Author of "Old Church Psalmody," &c., in grateful recognition of the Wide-spread and Beneficial Influence Produced by His Abundant Labours in Behalf of The Music of the Church, and of Much Personal Kindness, Courtesy and Liberality, THIS ORGAN EDITION OF "CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH MUSIC" is very cordially inscribed" March 1, 1865 By the Compilers. The following pages is a preface to the original edition 1853. by T. Binney. Which then follows a page entitled NOTE TO THE ENLARGED EDITION 1871. followed by NOTE ON ORGAN SCORE. Alphabetical Index is next is the next six pages. Page C.C.M. 1 to C.C.M. 152 are titles TUNES. It feels like quite a special book, which has had plenty of wonderful use, and in my humble opinion would appreciate being preserved for future generations. Seller Inventory # 1139
