Myra Schneider's new collection brings a fresh sense of reality to some well-known images. Colour is the keynote of the book, moving through Matisse, Hockney, Chagall; sound too, in Mahler and Beethoven. Often we find skin-deep assumptions turned around: the gold of ancient Crete is not its jewellery but olives; a postbox's bright exterior conceals menace; a major twentieth-century artist only started painting by chance at the age of twenty; and the long poem 'Minotaur' makes it clear that the Minotaur is no monster, Theseus no hero. Myra Schneider's tenth full collection is 'worth getting hold of if you like your poetry emotionally vulnerable, richly allusive and superbly poised between past and present.' Poetry London

Review:
"Myra Schneider has become an essential poet. Nobody else manages her fusion of the domestic and the global as well. Nobody else manages her fusion of the sensual and the spiritual as well." "ACUMEN""

"Her eye for the natural world is sharp yet tender as is her colour sense; she has a wonderful ability to find vision in the most ordinary domestic object." "ARTEMISpoetry""

"The poet takes the reader on a journey through the contradictions of red from dooking apples to menstrual blood (the pads can be disposed of, But you can t kill the smell of shame.), to a dress called excitement." Wendy Klein, "London Grip Poetry Review""

"I thought this sequence was as readable and as action packed as a novel obviously not as long, but it had that same forward momentum and drive." Kim Moore, kimmoorepoet.wordpress.com"
