Cairo is unique, in that it is the only city in the world which has a series of Islamic monuments running unbroken from the 9th to the 20th century. This two-volume set, is an authentic reproduction of books first published in 1949 by the Survey of Egypt. As an historical record it illustrates the principle masterpieces in chronological order and has been updated to include three new mosques built since 1949.
