This edition of an established textbook on the ecology of freshwaters which traces the progression of water from rain, through upland streams, flood-plain rivers, lakes and estuaries, has been completely revised. In this edition greater emphasis has been placed on flowing waters and applied ecology, and a feature of the book is that applications, such as pollution, water management and conservation, have been integrated into the book as a whole and not relegated to a separate section.
