English translation: "Offered to __? the Brothers Lionnet with very many thanks for the good they are doing for our patients in the Salpetrière, by their charming artistic evenings.__? Charcot, 1893 24 April." Charcot died only a few months later, in August 1893, at age 67. The Lionnet twin brothers Hippolyte and Anatole were entertainers who performed for the patients at Charcot's asylum for the mentally ill, the Salpetrière. They both died in 1896. Hippolyte and Anatole Lionnet publishedSouvenirs et Anecdotes(1888) in which they remembered their career. They describe experiences performing for the patients at the Salpetrière (pp. 248-249).
