This picture was taken by Astronaut John W. Young, crew commander. The parked Lunar Roving Vehicle is in the left background. Note crater at left center stage. An original chromogenic 10" x 8" print on Kodak fiber-based paper bearing the "A Kodak Paper" watermark on the verso. From the library of Homer E. Newell, space scientist and NASA executive. Newell joined NASA in 1958, and was successively assistant director for space sciences (1958-1960), deputy director of space flight programs (1960-1961), director of space sciences (1961-1963), associate administrator for space science and applications (1963-1967) and finally to the third ranking position at NASA as associate administrator of NASA (1967-1974).
