According to a Post-it note that came with the photograph, it appears to have been taken at the "Rameal Sorin . The location is most likely Paris in 1978, when Bukowski had an infamous appearance on the French literary television show, Apostrophes. Freire was born in Rio de Janeiro, in 1945, and has worked in Paris since 1973. He was given French nationality in 2004.
