About this Item
A Printed broadside presumably printed in or near Sutton Coldfield. Measures 25 x 18 cm (10 x 7.25 inches) 16 4 line verses parodying Aesop's fable of the Frog & Stork in relation to Govt? interference on the local council? a handwritten line along top says "Sutton New Charter" and another hand has written "1855 August" to the right with in faint pencil "To be returned to Holbeche", etc (cannot read), but it came from this families small archive of material we have. We believe the poem dates to before the date of 1855 and circa 1835-40. Backed onto blue album paper with other news-cuts and a printed version of the National Anthem by the Rev'd James Packwood curate at Sutton Coldfield 10th March 1863 (a person disliked by the Holbeche family), printed for William Bentnall in the town. Both items stuck down, so one would be damaged when any removal was attempted, the main item would frame well. Seller Inventory # B00002
