Letter on two separate sheets, handwritten in black ink, dated Herald Office June 29, 1934. "Greetings o Mighty Chief.I hope this is not too late and you are on your way back.I've added such a lot of things to my collection since you left. The last is a big fishhook in greenstone six and a half inches long - it belonged to Baron de Thierry at one time. The Maori gave it to him for some good turn that he did them. We were out on the West Coast last Sunday to have a look at the old pa (Kare Kare). What do you think! Some fool of a fellow is cutting down two big trees that are growing on it. Trying to farm it if you please. Making two blades of grass grow where none will grow. We are trying have him stopped before he does any more harm.Wishing you the best of good luck. Kia ora koe. Trevor Lloyd (1863-1937 )was the well-known artist, cartoonist and illustrator, working for the NZ Herald among other publications.
