COLLECTION OF BELGIAN MILITARY DOCUMENTS AND ONE REPUBLIC OF FRANCE CIVIL DOCUMENT: 1st edition, 1870 to 1880 (Military) and 1897 (Civil). These documents belonged to Ernest(e) Joseph(e) Colot #33429, who was born in 1850, enlisted in the Belgian Army in 1870 and was assigned to the 11th Regiment of the Line. He re-enlisted in 1874 and was discharged in 1880. The documents comprise his original enlistment paper (1870), his re-enlistment paper (1874), his discharge paper (1880) and his infantry booklet of assignment, pay, conduct, etc. The military booklet is in bound velum with the original wrap around string attached. In the document can be found, his personal details, parentage, where he lived, his pay record and equipment issued to him as well as details of his conduct and status upon discharge. Also included is a Republic of France "Extrait du Registre D'Immatriculation" (1897), which outlines his personal, marital and family status and his occupation as a mason or bricklayer. All documents are in French and are quite legible. A fascinating peek into the life of a Belgian soldier during his ten years of service, as well as his personal life seventeen years after his discharge from the military, which would be a wonderful find for a military collector, researcher or genealogist.
