Letter front signed by C. Kingsley (The Water Babies, Westward Ho! etc), to Peter le Neve Foster (pioneer photographer and Sec for the "Society of Arts"), later the Royal Society of Arts, he was heavily involved with the organisation of the Great Exhibition of 1851 and its successor 1862 International Exhibition. With a duplex barred numeral mark/cancel No 963 for Winchfield in Hants. with a single ring cancel for January 1st 1869? on a 1d embossed official QV pale mauve. On the reverse is the signature of Alexander MacMillan founder of Macmillans & Co, dated April 18th 1868. The Kingsley front is sent to P. Le Neve Foster the then Secretary for the "Society of Arts" and the address is John St, Adelphi, London. 2 on one piece of card. Seller Inventory # 8539
