Former First Lady of the United States Frances Folsom Cleveland Preston neatly penned her free frank signature along the top of this envelope postmarked December 20, 1937 from Princeton, New Jersey. The envelope is addressed to Mr. & Mrs. W. L. Wyat[?]. Frances Folsom married President Cleveland in 1886 at age 21, becoming the youngest First Lady in history. She quickly won the hearts of the American people with her charm and beauty. In 1913, five years after Grover Cleveland s death, Frances Cleveland married Thomas J. Preston, Jr., an archaeology professor at her alma mater, Wells College. 3 ¾ x 4 5/8 . Condition: The glue from the envelope flap has lightly bled through to the recto, otherwise in good condition.
