Rider Haggard (1856-1925), wrote this kind autograph letter signed declining an invitation (maybe to speak?) and instead suggests other people: How about Lord Tennyson who was the chairman of our Empire Settlement Committee, or Sir Harry Wilson of the Royal Colonial Institute . Sir H. Rider Haggard is best remembered for his works King Solomon s Mines, She, and Allan Quatermain. Written on an 8 x 5 sheet of Rosemullion Hotel, Budleigh Salterton, S. Devon imprinted stationery. Condition: Fold lines and wrinkling, top part of the letter has been reinforced with thicker paper on the verso, a few scattered spots, otherwise good condition with dark ink and a bold signature.
