U.S. Navy Admiral Samuel McGowan (1870-1934) signed this portrait photograph on July 1, 1915, the one-year anniversary of his appointment as Paymaster General of the Navy. McGowan served as Fleet Paymaster of the U.S. Atlantic Fleet, later known as the Great White Fleet, and was appointed to Paymaster General and Chief of the Bureau of Supplies and Accounts with the rank of Rear Admiral on July 1, 1914. Photo printed on textured photographic paper that measures 13 7/8 x 10 ½ . Condition: Two short tears in blank margin (neither touch image area) repaired with archival tissue/tape, otherwise in very good condition and quite displayable. Seller Inventory # A00598
