Colour map in postcard format 14x9cm, titled and labelled in Ottoman Turkish, and printed to the back with publisher's details. Good with hard diagonal crease which has been reinforced with translucent archival paper to the verso. Not postally used. Ibrahim Cigiracan (1876-1963) launched his publishing company in Constantinople in 1896. He initially specialised in religious works, diversifying into geography (including atlases), military and history. He published this postcard map as part of a series in the late 1890s to early 1900s to illustrate the Imperial Ottoman Vilayet system. The Ottomans created Mosul Vilayet in 1878, out of the northern Sanjaks of Baghdad Vilayet. It included the Sanjaks of Mosul, Kirkuk and Sulimaniyah, shown here on a scale of 1:4,000,000.
