Antique map of the central part of North Africa. The focus is on the old Carthaginian Empire. Bottom left a cartouche with an inset of Carthage, the capital of the Carthaginian Empire. Beautiful title cartouche top right. Below, to the right of the inset card, cartouches with text and the name of the cartographer: Abraham Ortelius, and the year in which themap was completed: 1590. Backside Latin text. Decorative piece. Hand-coloured copper engraving, published in Antwerp in 1601 "Ex Officina Plantniana" by Johannes Moretus in "Theatrum Orbis Terrarum," Abraham Ortelius.
