Life was an American magazine published weekly from 1883 to 1972. This issue of Life (Vol. 18, No. 17, April 23, 1945) was published at a very significant time - with the death of President Franklin D. Roosevelt on April 12th, and the installation of Harry S. Truman as the new president on the same day. The issue features a Yousuf Karsh photo of President Truman on the front cover and 20 pages (19-38} of text and photos related to the President?s death. n addition to the key articles relating to Roosevelt?s death, the following interesting articles also appear in this issue: A Photographic Essay on Roosevelt? 's Men - Yousuf Karsh?s photos of 27 key men in Roosevelt?s presidency (pages 73-81} An article on Hitler (pages 83-94) with pictures of his birthplace, his first picture, his parents, his schoolmates and friends by his personal photographer, Heinrich Hofmann. A two-page spread of 16 Miss Subways, An Article on Plexiglas (pages 41-44) A feature on illustrator Edward A. Wilson (pages 55-60), with examples of his works in the filming of "Duel in the Sun" (pages 97-101). The magazine is a clean copy with front cover and corner wear and text pages with minute dog-ears. There is toning on text pages, but not on the pictures. There are hairline tears on pages 89/90 (about 2 inch) and pages 51/52 (about 1 inch), affecting only ads.
