About this Item
This is a lot of 11 original BOSTON MUSEUM broadsides ranging in date from 1859 to 1865. The largest broadside measures approximately 18" tall x 6" wide. Founded in 1841, the Boston Museum was one of the leading theaters of 19th century Boston. Aside from its theatrical productions, the Boston Museum also featured attractions such as a wax museum, natural history museum, zoo, and art museum. The following 11 broadsides are included: * October 11, 1859 ("Adelgitha" with Eliza Logan's farewell performance). * October 17, 1859 ("Romeo & Juliet" with Eliza Logan as Juliet). * January 23, 1860 (double-sided; "Ye Life & Death of Bad Macbeth"). * February 14, 1860. * February 28, 1860. * March 5, 1860. * March 27, 1860. * September 7, 1860. * October 18, 1860. * January 26, 1861. * October 12, 1865. Condition:Overall the lot is in Good condition. Occasional tears and small foxing spots. The 1859 broadside has "Romeo" written in pencil at the right-hand margin.
