About this Item
376 pages : illustrations, portraits, 24 cm ; gilt-stamped red full cloth ; dj. Dj v. lightly rubbed. Capsule biographies of early surveyors. Surveying was even more important in early Texas, which kept all its public lands to distribute, than in other areas of the US, which had to give theirs up to the Federal government. Hence, Texas surveyors were responsible for ensuring the accurate disposition of 140,000,000 acres (that's more than 220,000 SQUARE MILES or 57 MILLION hectares) of land. It's lucky there were no more wars or feuds or embezzlements than there were. Seller Inventory # 000195

Store Description
This is no Half Price Books nor Strand Bookstore, rather one person selling books as a side hustle and a passion. When you deal with me, you deal with me, not an anonymous clerk. I presume sales to be final except in case of substantial condition discrepancy or lost and strayed shipments, and frown upon buyer's remorse.
Books will be wrapped securely in unused newspaper stock and shipped in bubble-padded mailing envelopes. Additional bubble-wrap may be included for large, heavy, or specially fragile items. After multiple instances of the US Post Awful losing books for me (it averaged about one per month) I have changed to UPS for US domestic shipments. Unfortunately, this also means I CANNOT ship to Post Office box addresses any longer (the delivery trucks won't fit into the little boxes) and I have to charge more S&H than I used.
I send international shipments via the broker Global Post, at International First Class rates. This will of necessity delay delivery at times.
