Very unusual copy of The complete text of the Bible, what Christians call the old testament in vocalized Hebrew and the German translation, side by side. In additon to the five photos shown here, more are available upon request. Part 1 and 2 each has a title page in German and a title page in Hebrew, part 3 has a preceding page listing the books it contains. Original leather binding with very decorative blindstamped design, gilt lettering on spine. The binding has wear along the edges. This book is remarkable on several counts. It has an inscription, on the free endpaper, relating to the Vienna Ringtheater fire of December 8, 1881. It was also owned by Adolph Mautner and has impression his rubber stamp. Scans available upon request. The inscription in German says: Am 8. Dezember 1861 ist in Wien das Ringtheater abgebrannt [?] dabei zirka 1000 Menschen verbrannt sind.
