3pp, [1]. With an engraved folding plate illustrating the rain-gauge in question. Unbound. All leaves creased and foxed. Ink correction to text of p.[1], with ink-stamp of the Royal Meteorological Society and presentation inscription; 'from the author' to head of same. An offprint of a paper concerning the construction, and application of, an improved rain-gauge designed by nautical engineer James Robert Napier (1821-1879). A prototype of the gauge, which functioned via wind-power, was installed at Shandon, on the Gareloch and proved successful. This concise description of the apparatus is accompanied by a simple diagram of the instrument. Size: 8vo. Seller Inventory # AQ13420
