Stated First Edition. This is a fairly rare book. I found only a couple of others for sale on the Internet. However this one is made singularly rare by the fact that the author Signed it (see photo). As you can see from the photographs, the covers of the book itself are spotless. They are also in excellent condition with almost no wear at all. The book is also straight and square, tight and very solidly bound, absolutely no issues in that regard. The interior of the book looks pretty much perfect. I scrolled through the pages and didn't see any soiling at all, not even on the inside covers or end papers (and none on the page edges as well). I also didn't see any creasing or dogeared corners. There aren't any markings or attachments. And with the exception of the author's signature on the title page no one has written anything anywhere in the book. There are three full-page maps. There are several black-and-white illustrations including a full-page one. The book is rated Near Fine. It could be rated Fine just as well. The dust jacket is rated only Good because the previous owner chose to place three pieces of scotch tape over tears on the jacket. Other than that the jacket is in pretty good condition. There is a slight loss at the top of the spine, not reaching the lettering. The jacket is quite clean, an accomplishment given that it is mostly white. The flaps are in good condition and clean. They do have four small clips at their corners, likely aimed at tucking the jacket in. While the price is not affected there's also a black marker line over the price. The dust jacket will be fitted with a protective cover once the photographs are scanned. I've chosen to price this Signed book below the price of the unsigned copies. 'A fascinating, well-rounded presentation of war as it is to the soldier himself, the common, ordinary, everyday citizen-soldier who quietly, doggedly, carries on'. Seller Inventory # 001261
