Published by Robert Hardwicke, London. Undated, presumed first, with inscription (crossed out) on pre-title page, dated 1882. At back is catalogue of books published or sold by Robert Hardwicke and includes an advertisement for ' Hardwicke's Science Gossip' published monthly which informs that volume 9 commenced January 1873.Hardcover with textured cloth binding which also has embossed decoration to the front and gold titles to the spine. thre is a little wear to the corners and top and bottom of spine are bumped. Thre is an additional inscription and later price on endpaper`Some fading and foxing throughout. thre are pencil marks in places on the text and in some places thre are signs of the pages pulling apart at the binding.
