Publisher's red decorative binding featuring young ladies flying about on bats rendered in black and grey ans lettered in gilt. Black lettering to the spine. All edges gilt. Decorative end-papers. Very scarce children's book published mid 1890's by Dean and Son before Scarlet Pimpernel's appearance. A VG+ copy (slightly rubbed/soiled). Boards bright and clean. Clean interior. Tightly bound. NO hand-colouring of any of the plates. A very pleasing copy, nothing fundamentally wrong with it. An early fantasy tale illustrated by Baroness Orczy and her husband Montagu Barstow.
