Number 18 of only 475 copies printed in1894. A now very rare copy of a superb & fascinating history of this famous nautical institution dating from the early sixteenth century. Tissue guard to bound-in original etching of Trinity House on thick paper. There is a small, faint stamp in light mauve to the title page, its design suggests it is of the same age as the book, and one or two other small signs of it having been bought in for the reference section of the adjacent Gravesend reference library. The text is clean and tidy apart from very light water staining to bottom right hand corners of prelims and an occasional gapping in the binding of the text. Some rubbing and wear of the corners and edges of the slightly shabby dark navy blue cloth binding, with the gold shield to the front being faded. Seller Inventory # 006007
