About this Item
Finely printed booklet, a rhythmical poem in free verse from Mayfield. A William Russell Clark, who provides the introduction, represents at least one gushing fan of the work: "A thorough scholar, an astute critic, Mr. Mayfield has here recorded an epic in the affairs of common folk, who live to love and love to live. This poem will live as an oak tree and each new season of acorns will bear witness that beauty sleeps byt to awaken and that God and Man are brothers who commune together in peace through the written word." Worldcat locates three holdings of this poem, two of them in Texas. 27x19cm, [31]pp. Title page in two colors with vignette illustration. Stapled, cream paper wrappers, printed label mounted on front. Some soiling and light wear else nearly fine. Seller Inventory # 5255
