About this Item
Three Tragedies Garcia Lorca, Hardcover, First UK Edition (1959). The book was translated by James Graham-Lujan and Richard L. O'Connell, and has an introduction by Francisco Garcia Lorca. Book in very good condition, in a similar unclipped dust jacket. The book has very minor bumping to the spine ends, and slight ageing to the page edges. The dust jacket shows general wear and ageing, including a small stain internally to the bottom of the front end flap, corresponding to the external price sticker. Overall a nice, tight and clean copy for a book of this age. (See pictures). The Spanish poet and playwright Federico Garcia Lorca gained international recognition as an emblematic member of the Generation of '27 - a group comprised mainly of poets who introduced the tenets of European movements into Spanish literature. He was assassinated by Nationalists at the age of 37 at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War. Lorca has been recognised as a poet of genius, and possibly the foremost poetic dramatist of our time.
