Orig. published 1969-1962, the series was taken up by a French author in the 1970s-1980s, followed by 2 new books in 2018/19, a stage adaptation & a radio drama. This title was book #8, orig. published in 1956; this is the 1st printing of that FIRST EDITION. With blue decorative cloth over boards lettered in darker blue to front & spine, this hardcover has 120 pages, with pen-and-ink illustrations throughout by Burgess Sharrocks. Condition is VG: quite clean, with one small soiled spot to external fore edge. Pages creamy white with mild tanning, unmarked save for gift inscription dated 1956 to half-title page. Binding strong & straight, hinges secure, corners slightly bumped. The price-clipped DJ is downgraded to Fair due to significant creasing & chipping to both top & bottom edges, rubbing to fore edge; nicely protected by former owner in clear nonreflective mylar cover.
