First Edition. A childrens educational book possibly used for teaching, with stories and easy to read text. Original decorated cloth hardcover. Front board shows a girl sitting in a yellow armchair reading to two children, the binding is in a very condition for its age and the use it would have received, Front paste-down and endpaper starts the story of Peter Pan, this is followed by a coloured pictorial fronitpiece 'The Story of Peter Pan' 148 pages, mixed stories listed in the Contents, towards the end there are Word Building and Word Study Exercises. Four full page colour illustrations plus other illustrations in black and white. Easy to read type-face, Examples of the Stories are The Story of the Willow Pattern Plate, How Brer Tortoise helped Brer Rabbit and the Spiders Web. At the end of each chapter there are questions to answer about the stories. Plenty of variety and of course it gives us an idea of the kind of books children in the 1920s were using to help them to read. ; Colour and Black & white; Thin Small 8vo 7½" - 8" tall; 148 pages.
