8vo. 125p. Illustrated with two drawings from paintings by Frank Craig, one reproduction of a painting by Rembrandt, and a photograph by Isabel Mosher. Green cloth blocked in gilt and with letters in gilt on the front cover and the spine and with an Arts & Crafts style design on the front cover of oak leaves and acorns. Just touches of wear to extremities, spine gilt dulled, cover gilt bright, gift inscription in pencil, all illustrations present and in fine condition, else near fine to fine with no internal markings. A fictional account of Caradoc, son of Shakespeare's Cymbeline and the first national hero of English-speaking peoples. Legend has it that Caradoc met the apostle Paul in Rome and afterward brought Christmas to England. Born in Salisbury, NC in 1870, James Augustin Brown Scherer was an American educator and the author of many books, including many on Japan. He was President of the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena (1908-1920) and Director of the Southwest Museum, Los Angeles (1926-1931). Seller Inventory # 007136
