This is by the18th cent. Scottish poet (1700-1748) who wrote the words to 'Rule Britannia' and much else.This copy is the 1st edition (price 1s 6d.) It contains the title page, the Dedication to the Countess of Hertford, an Advertisement page to the fact that although 'Spring' has been published singly, he still intends to publish full 'Four Seasons,' by subscription, later in the winter.Then follows the poem and on the back of the last page is printed some errata; there are some faint hand-written figures just above it. There is some faint water-marking to the second half of the pages, with some light grey spotting, but on the whole it is clean and clear. It has been recently rebound in dark red half calf with red cloth and handsome marbled endpapers, the title and date 1728 in gold to spine. Rare. Seller Inventory # 005182
