About this Item

Translated by Ludwig Lewisohn. Very good first edition book in very good dust jacket. Gray cloth covered boards with dark red edging on front panel and with title and author stamped in alternating text and background of dark red and gilt. Similar stamping on spine. Boards are clean; gutters of spine are lightly sunned. Horizontal creasing at tail of board spine. Small bumps on corners at head of board spine and fore-edge corners. Upper page edges are dark-red tinted. Age-toning to outside page edges. Text block is sound. Dust jacket is somewhat scuffed overall, more so on spine and folds. Light soil is apparent on white back panel and white lettering on front panel. Spine is faded. All folds are creased and rubbed. The lower right corner on the front panel has a 1 3/4" closed vertical tear along the front fore-edge fold. The back fore-edge fold has two 1/2" closed tears, one at the lower fore-edge corner, the other approx. 2" above that. Upper edge at head of jacket spine has several closed vertical tears of 1/8" - 3/8" and with adjacent creases and rubs. Lower edge at tail of jacket spine has several small chips and rubs. Upper edge on back panel has 3/4" closed vertical tear toward the upper right corner. All fore-edge corners are rubbed and chipped. Inside front flap corners are clipped; back inside flap corners are also but to a lesser extent. Please use close-up options for best inspection and in support of condition description.
