About this Item
First Edition (NAP). This is a very rare book and of the couple that are for sale, this one is the only one in very good shape. You can see the covers in the photos. They are very clean. There's no soiling. The black lettering on the spine is nicely bright, no wear. There is a small superficial scratch on the front cover which you can see in the fourth photo. The six cover edges look perfect. The four corners look very good, one speck-sized spot of rubbing at the rear bottom one. The page edges are very clean. The book is square and the spine is straight. The binding is very solid from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout and nicely tight covers as well. The pages are exceptionally clean. I've scrolled through them a number of times without finding any instances of soiling. I'm also not finding any creasing. There are no markings or attachments (NOT ex-library). And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. It's held up quite nicely. There is a little bit of scuffing off the top edge of the spine, and one small spot on the rear side of the spine. There are only two tiny tears, one off the front bottom edge and one off the rear bottom edge. There's some light toning at the margins which the scanner light exaggerates. The flaps are in very solid shape. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. It will be fitted with a protective cover after the photos are scanned. From the dust jacket: 'What are the facts about the relationship between cigarette smoking and health? In a provocative, stimulating fashion Sen. Maurine Neuberger reports the evidence and brings order to the confusion caused by the welter of charges and counter charges that have been issued over the past decade. How has the tobacco industry promoted the sale of cigarettes to teenagers? Do filter cigarettes really cut down on the intake of tars and nicotine? Why isn't tobacco covered by the Pure Food and Drug Act? What is the real function of the Tobacco Industry Research Committee? Is there sufficient concern about the problem in Government, Congress, and the American Medical Association? Here is a highly readable book, straightforward and dramatically revealing, about one of today's most controversial subjects.'. Seller Inventory # 004398
