Owner's name to front pastedown, else a good copy in original gilt-stamped cloth-backed boards. An illustrated study of the lesser houses of the French court at Versailles. The diversity of the gardens reflects the ideals of classical French formalism adapted to the newer Romantic English style of landscape gardening.
