About this Item
8vo. Scarce historical-fiction account of the life of this notorious Colonial Indian Scout, Outlaw and important British ally during the American Revolution. Girty was a friend of both Simon Kenton and Daniel Boone and helped save the lives of both after they had been captured during the bloody 18th-century warfare during the early days of the settlement of Kentucky. Red cloth with elaborate illustrations to both boards stamped in black. Titles stamped in gilt to front board and spine. Front hinge starting, though holding. Boards with moderate rubbing and wear with light soiling. Portions of the cloth along the edges frayed. Rear board with dampstain to lower fore edge. First few interior pages also with dampstaining. P/O signature and address in pencil to front flyleaf. Overall, this copy is handsome and in Good condition, and still a quite desirable title in any condition considering its scarcity in commerce.
