Moderate foxing and tanning to pages with heavier foxing and tanning to pastedowns and endpapers. Pencil inscriptions to front endpaper and minor foxing and tanning to text block edges. Binding is loose with pencil inscriptions to rear endpaper. Boards have minor rubbing and sunning with visible bumping to corners. Fair crushing to spine ends and book is forward leaning. Clipped jacket with visible rubbing and edge wear. Heavier rubbing and sunning to spine and visible tearing to corners, edges and spine ends. Tape and heavier water marks to interior. Allard Martens was urged to write this book by a high official at the Foreign Office "So that the English - speaking nations of the world could become acquainted with our contribution towards the overthrowing of Nazism and with the main reason why, in our opinion, the Battle of Arnhem failed".
