original decorated green cloth with some wear at spine ends and corners, text block has been strengthened and given new endpapers, still with a slight lean in text block, generally clean sound copy. 327 pages, neat old owner signature on title page. I have retained the original binder's ticket (Westleys of London) on the new endpapers. The author was daughter of Lord Auckland, 19th Century diplomat and one-time Chief Secretary in Ireland, An admirer of Jane Austen, her novel centres on two families of different social class brought together as neighbours.
