Contains 669 pages + 4 foldout maps + 44 pages of Ads rear ( page numbering a printers mess ). Original full leather binding with gilt embossed "Robson s Directory. Royal Court Guide and Peerage" around the Royal coat-of-arms. Well rubbed/worn with detached front cover. Original paper label to spine "Robson s Directory 1839. Royal Court Guide and Directory of Beds, Bucks, Cambridge, Hunts, Norfk & Suffk Vol II". Contents fair, most pages good, clean & tight, some edge tears, some loss, some corner folds, with owners names, page vi detached with edge tears. Starts at page iii, the start of Index of streets of London, Contains Index of streets of London, Index of who lived/resided at most houses on the streets in London (inc. people, Banks, shops etc.) list of Peers, Government officials, army agents, banks ect. and their addresses. to page 248. Fold out map Bedfordshire (quarter bottom left missing).Then Page 1 to 34, Fold out map Buckinghamshire complete with tear. Then Page 1 to 62, Fold out map Cambridgeshire complete with tears. Then Page 1 to 64, Fold out map Huntingdonshire complete with tears. Then Page 1 to 30, Fold out map Norfolk (only top coastal area, lacks rest/ about 75% ). Then Page 1 to 166, page 62 badly torn, lacks pages 131-134 Thetford. Lacks map of Suffolk, Then Page 1 to 102. Then adverts Page 1 to 16 (lacks advert pages 17 to 26) pages 27 to 40, then miss-numbered page 37 (not same as other pages 37-40) to 52. A few ink changes in Norfolk section. Lacks front/rear endpapers. Although not 100% complete is a very rare item, have seen similar ones listed in Institutions on the net, could not find another of any date with the all the same contents/counties. At time of listing could not find any Robson s Royal Court Guides for sale. If it had the Thetford section in, we would not be selling it. WorldCat only list similar for 1838 & 1842, does not list any for 1839 or any with Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Huntingdonshire, Norfolk & Suffolk. So it seems each year you could purchase the London section and maybe you could purchase any other counties to bound/make your own possibly unique copy. Size: 13.5 x 25cm.approx.
