Octavo. . 426pp., 4 full page plates. The reports contained in the present volume were presented to Governor Evertt, during the session of 1838-1839. The governor authorized the publication of fifteen hundred copies of the reports which he had received. There is also a listing of those who received a copy. This was an important study to learn more about the State of Massachusetts and its natural history, including the birds, fish, minerals, animals and of course reptiles as in which snakes were venomous, what ores were found that could be mined and much more. This copy is an ex-library copy with their small blue bookplate, bound in the original printed wraps, there is light wear to spine and corners, spine has a few splits but sturdy. The covers are soiled, internally clean without foxing, The head of the title page has written From the Commonwealth of / Massachusetts. By Mr. Geo. B. Emerson and others is written on the title page. An uncommon work held within a brown leather clamshell. Seller Inventory # 023254
