Regency celebrity culture caricature. Inconveniences of a Crowded Drawing Room . A doorway into a crowded gallery at Buckingham Palace is filled with an egotistical sybaritic crowd chivvying each other to be presented at court. A stout man and woman are stuck in the door way, their stomachs tête-bêche, the woman standing on the man s painful gouty foot; to the right a German (?) officer accidentally on purpose flicks his scabbard in between the legs of a much discomforted woman behind him. Originally published 1818. Uncoloured, good condition, platemark 25x35 cms. £40.
