Current novels collection refers to the exuberant growth period of author's literature creation and is based on the contrasts, grotesque, symbolistic characters and characterized by Neo-Romanticism. In this work are collected Tuglas's wartime stories - mixed horror and supernatural elements with real world. Friedebert Tuglas (1886-1971) was an unsurpassed Estonian writer, critic, literary expert, who introduced Impressionism and Symbolism to Estonian literature. He was the leader of Estonian literary group Noor-Eesti (Young Estonia) in the beginning of 20th century. Tuglas became one of the founders of literary union Siuru, created a new fashion of Impressionist love poetry and Symbolist short-story writing, and popularized literature among the public. In the Estonian republic Tuglas is known as one of the leading figures of local cultural life, he founded and edited many literary magazines - Odamees, ILO, Tarapita. Book s minimalistic font cover design and expressionist woodcut frontispiece created by Ado Vabbe (1892-1961), who was the most radical innovator in Estonian art at the beginning of XX century. Abstract Expressionism dominated in his creation. Improvisational, intuitive essential is also indicated in his cubo-fururist works.
