In French. Apparent First Edition (NAP). The catalog of the exhibition, richly illustrated, brings together 120 paintings, 90 graphic works (drawings, engravings, illustrated books), 25 ceramics, 30 fabrics and some clothes. This covers have a supple white leaf-patterned with a beautiful color paste-on illustration on the front. The covers are very clean. Their condition is excellent. The only imperfections are a light crease off the top edge of the spine and a shallow dent on the top edge of the rear cover. All three page edges are perfectly clean. The book is very solidly bound from cover to cover with nicely tight pages. There are no binding issues. The inside covers and end papers are a jazzy vibrant black and white flowery pattern. They too are perfectly clean and unworn. This description applies to all the pages within the book. I'm not seeing any soiling at all. No creases. No dogeared corners. There are no markings. There are no attachments. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere. The pages are very bright. The colors are particularly vibrant. The only imperfection is quite minor, a little bit of toning at the margins. The Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris presents an important retrospective of the work of Raoul Dufy. This artist, widely represented in the museum's collections, notably by the monumental "Fair Electricity" (made for the International Exhibition of Arts and Techniques in Paris in 1937), had not been shown in a public institution in Paris since the death The artistic career of Dufy, who accompanies the avant-gardes of Paris at the beginning of the century, makes him a very original painter. Very early, his research focuses on color / light, his taste for arabesque and new processes (Maroger process) and the rediscovery of certain techniques (xylography). The exhibition highlights particularly its remarkable series (seaside, cobbled streets, workshops, black cargo ships, etc.) that define an original creative process. Emphasis is also placed on the relationship of his decorative work with his painting. This retrospective aims to renew the look on a work that has not only seduced his contemporaries, but also remains synonymous in the spirit of today's public, light, color and a certain "lightness".
