This VG+ quality first edition book was published in 1943 by Grosset & Dunlap. It is 7-5/8" tall and has 214 numbered pages of text; it was the fifth & last title in this series to be bound in brown cloth with decorated end pages. This book is square, very clean, free of corner bumps and edge dings; head and heel of the spine are very lightly bumped with no fabric damage; the bottom edges have virtually no wear. The interior is completely free of writing, stray marks and stains of any sort; the only page damage are small (3/4" x 1/4") chips out of the upper corners of the pages from the title page through page 8--they likely broke off due to brittleness. The hinges are strong and not damaged in any way. The frontis is present and not damaged. The paper is heavily toned and a bit stiff but still fairly flexible. There is no series lists at the rear of the book. The VG- quality jacket is reasonably clean though the spine is a bit soiled. The jacket has tears along the front fold (it has 2 small pieces of tape on the verso) and along the rear fold. Plus there are small chips at the head and heel of the spine--no lettering is affected by these chips. The front panel is substantially intact.
