About this Item
Large folio, pp 445. While purportingto be a history of the country, Mrs. Wright's book is an elaborate celebratory volume on the Mexico of Porfirio Diaz, for which she was duly decorated by the President. The photographs number in the hundreds, and are, as the title notes, of the picturesque genre, though interesting nonetheless: there is no question that she did get around to see a lot of the country. The front free endpaper has a charming tinfoil seal from the shop where presumably the book was bought -- Tlaquepaque, in Mexico City. Minor scuffing to edges -- it is a heavy volume -- but generally very good. Seller Inventory # 6873
